Heating Service Contract

Terms and Conditions

By making full payment for the Patterson Fuels Heating Service contract, customer users of Patterson Fuels and Patterson agree to the following terms and conditions:

1. The Plan shall be subject to prior Patterson inspection and approval of customer’s heating equipment as suitable for inclusion under this plan.

2. This Plan covers only those repairs and replacement parts specified herein which result from normal operation of heating equipment, during the effective period of the Plan. Any person other than a Patterson employee rendering repairs or adjustments to the equipment, except as instructed by Patterson will void this contract.

3. This Plan does not cover water leaks, damage from water leaks, or damage caused by excessive dampness in the customer’s basement.

4. Patterson shall not be liable for failure or delay to provide the service called for under this Plan if such failure or delay results from: strike or other labor disturbance, fire, flood, lightening, act of God, supply shortages, governmental laws or other regulations, supplier’s inability to supply parts, or failure of customer’s supply of electricity or water.

5. Patterson shall also not be liable under this Plan for customer failure to use ordinary care in the operation of heating equipment, including but not limited to: customer failure to keep adequate water in boiler (if applicable), oil in tank (if applicable), blown fuses, failure to turn on main switch, thrown circuit breakers, or any other cause unrelated to normal operation of heating equipment or which may affect Patterson’s ability to fulfill its obligations under the terms of this Plan.

6. Fuel flow problems directly related to outside storage of fuels are not covered under this Plan.

7. Wood/oil, coal oil, pellet/oil, etc. combination units are not covered under this Plan.

8. When it is no longer practical to continue servicing customers equipment, due to age or obsolescence, Patterson reserves the right to cancel this agreement at any time, or Patterson will modernize customer’s equipment (with customer approval and at customer’s expense) which will continue this agreement.

9. Patterson liability under this plan is limited to the services specified. Patterson shall not be liable for any consequential or incidental damages in any way arising out of performance or nonperformance under this agreement. Patterson’s liability is limited to the payments made by the customer.

10. This Plan is not assignable without the prior consent of Patterson.

11. The term of this agreement shall be for a period of one year from the effective date set forth below and shall be renewed for successive one year periods thereafter following inspection, unless cancelled by either party at the time of notice in writing mailed to the other party.

12. All parts, equipment and/or labor not covered under this Plan will be charged to customer at prevailing rates. They are: humidifiers, flue devices, electronic air cleaners, heat distributing units (radiators, baseboard radiation, piping, duct work, etc.); boiler and jacket on hot-water units or heat exchanger and jacket on warm air units; combustion chamber and chimney; water heater tank, domestic hot-water coil; steam water feeders, flow control valve, motorized zone dampers; and air conditioning and heat pump equipment.

13. The customer’s full payment for the Plan and signature below shall constitute acceptance of these terms and conditions.

14. This Plan is available only to credit approved automatic delivery customers who purchase their entire year’s heating oil supply from Patterson Fuels.

Patterson Fuels maintains emergency service. A qualified Vermont licensed service technician will be available to take care of your needs, at no additional charge, as required to fulfill the terms of this contract during the hours specified.


Heating Service contract includes the following services:


Burner and Heating Unit Tune-up

• Inspect and clean the heat exchanger for carbon and scale deposits. • Lubricate all motors and bearing assemblies when applicable.

• Inspect condition of combustion chamber. • Test ignition system components.

• Check and clean the flue pipe. • Test all controls for proper operation.

• Seal clean-out doors. • Adjust draft controls for proper flue pipe draft.

• Service oil burner, including cleaning and adjusting electrodes, changing nozzle, inspecting fan, end cone and air tube. • Fine tune the heating system for its peak efficiency, using state-of-the-art combustion testing equipment.

• Install new air filters. • Install oil filter cartridge and pump strainer




Patterson Fuels will replace or repair any of the following parts if they become defective during the contract year.
Replacement cost will be at a 50% discount.
